Tacoma Country and Golf Club is set to host the 2026 Centennial Washington Open and the 2027 US Senior Women’s Open. The Club recently hosted the 2025 Washington Open and the 2024 Pacific Northwest Women’s Amateur. TCGC hosted the 1961 U.S. Women’s Amateur, 1984 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur, 1994 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur, 2007 U.S. Girls’ Junior, 11 PNGA Amateur Championships, 3 Washington Men’s Amateurs, and numerous USGA championship qualifiers including Final Qualifying for the 2017 U.S. Open.

Position Summary
As the First Assistant Superintendent at Tacoma Country and Golf Club, you will be responsible for assisting the Golf Course Superintendent in golf course maintenance, Clubhouse grounds maintenance, landscaping, building maintenance and day-to-day management of staff. The First Assistant may assist with the hiring, training, a direction of team members.

Primary Responsibilities include the following: (other duties may be assigned)

  • Manage the maintenance crew’s day-to-day work on the course and track completion of tasks
  • Communicate course conditions with the Superintendent and Golf Shop Staff daily
  • Identify and resolve any issues on the golf course
  • Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and contribute to the overall success of the operations
  • Create work schedules and daily tasks for maintenance crew including supervising and directing throughout shift (Task Manager)
  • Ensure daily course setup is completed properly
  • Chemical and Fertilizer application
  • Assist with training employees on tasks, equipment, and safety procedures/policies; help lead safety meetings and ensure staff is following protocol
  • Assume responsibility of the golf course in the absence of the Superintendent
  • Attend weekly Leadership meetings when the Superintendent is not available
  • Other duties as assigned

Candidate Requirements and Qualifications

  • Degree in Turfgrass Management or a related field of study
  • 5+ years of experience on a golf course or a related field of work
  • Ability to work some Weekends/holidays; adapt schedule around tournaments and events
  • Strong and effective organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team; ability to supervise multiple employees
  • Strong attention to detail and problem solving
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Understand the game of golf
  • Understanding of Irrigation system, troubleshooting and basic repair
  • Employment is contingent on clearing a background check

 

 

 

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, 40+ hour weekly, with benefits including:

Tacoma Country & Golf Club offers a competition sized swimming pool set on the shores of American Lake complete with locker rooms, a Beach House with kitchen and bar, and beach and lake access with a dock and slide. The pool, beach house, and lake operate for members and their guests from Memorial Day to Labor Day and through September, weather, and lifeguard availability, permitting.

Position Summary
Tacoma County and Golf Club Lifeguards monitor pool and lake activities and always ensure member safety. Lifeguards shall possess knowledge of rescue procedures and emergency medical procedures. Must have CPR and First Aid Certification. Lifeguards will prepare the pool for use and continue maintenance throughout the shift.

Position Core Duties

  • Maintain surveillance of all patrons in pool, kiddie pool, jacuzzi, and lakefront/dock area.
  • Act immediately and appropriately during the event of an emergency to provide safety to all patrons.
  • Maintain professionalism in appearance and attitude and possess a high level of customer service.
  • Open pool and lake area each day according to business hours.
  • Maintain a clean and safe pool environment.
  • Enforce Club rules of safety and conduct.
  • Ensure pool area, lake area, and locker rooms, and bathrooms are always clean.

Candidate Qualifications & Requirements

  • Working knowledge of aquatics recreation and operation systems
  • Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills for working with members, employees, program participants, and guests of members.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong work ethic and customer service skills.
  • Employment contingent upon passing a criminal background check.
  • Current Lifeguarding Certification from the American Red Cross
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations.
  • Ability to perform duties involving physical labor, such as bending, kneeling, standing, reaching, climbing, stooping, squatting, pushing, and twisting.
  • Ability to perform strenuous activity with the physical ability to perform job.
  • Able to lift 50+ pounds.

Position Summary
Tacoma Country and Golf Club seeks a positive, energetic professional to provide excellent swim lessons to the children and grandchildren of members. Instructors will ensure a safe, fun and educational environment for participants of the program.


Position Core Duties
Swim Instructor Essential Duties, Skills, and other information

  • 2 Week Classes, 4 Days a week, 4 Sessions
  • Work with children ages 3-12 to help them feel comfortable in the water
  • Teach swimming skills to help children advance to upper levels
  • Swim Instructor Certification not required
  • Some knowledge of basic swim strokes required
  • Ability to demonstrate to children different swim/safety techniques
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certifications

Swim Coach Essential Duties, Skills, and other information

  • Assist with planning and running drills
  • Familiar with swim team structure and skills
  • Get in water and Demonstrate skills
  • Assist with Preparing and Running a swim meet
  • Make the experience fun for all involved (Children and parents)

 

Candidate Qualifications & Requirements

  • Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills for working with members, employees, program participants, and guests of members.

  • Minimum of 2 years lifeguard and/or Swim Instructor/Swim Team Coach experience.
  • Employment contingent upon passing a criminal background check.
  • Current Lifeguarding Certification from the American Red Cross
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations.
  • Ability to perform duties involving physical labor, such as bending, kneeling, standing, reaching, climbing, stooping, squatting, pushing, and twisting.
