Tacoma Country & Golf Club is as proud of our past as we are excited about our future. Dating back to 1894, Tacoma Country & Golf Club has been occupying this beautiful property on the shores of American Lake. TCGC is the oldest established Golf Club West of the Mississippi.

Golf is central to the member experience at Tacoma Country & Golf Club. We feature an 18-hole championship golf course that stretches beyond 6,900-yards from the back tees. Accomplished players will love the test they find on our links, while players of all skill levels will find a playable course that is enjoyable round after round. In addition to the course itself, our members enjoy access to one of the finest practice facilities in the region.

Tacoma Country and Golf Club is set to host the 2027 US Senior Women’s Open and the 2024 Pacific Northwest Women’s Amateur. TCGC hosted the 1961 U.S. Women’s Amateur, 1984 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur, 1994 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur, 2007 U.S. Girls’ Junior, 11 PNGA Amateur Championships, 3 Washington Men’s Amateurs, and numerous USGA championship qualifiers including Final Qualifying for the 2017 U.S. Open

Position Summary
The Second Assistant will partner with the Superintendent and First Assistant to direct and coordinate golf course maintenance activities, such as maintaining quality course conditions, developing (training) and retaining employees. The Second Assistant may serve in the First Assistant’s capacity in the event of their absence.  

Primary Responsibilities include the following: (other duties may be assigned)

  • Effectively lead staff to ensure a quality product. Follow up with staff continually to ensure tasks are being completed in a timely manner and to the Club’s Standards.
  • Evaluate and assess equipment management, operation and set up.
  • Maintain daily course set up to the Club’s Standards.
  • Maintain communication between staff and Golf Shop.
  • Proactively identify and correct problems that arise on property

 

Candidate Requirements and Qualifications

  • Minimum High School Graduation
  • Weekends/holidays
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Basic Turf Care Maintenance background (sprayers, chemicals, understanding of irrigation and components)
  • Understand the game of golf
  • Ability to supervise multiple employees

 

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, 40+ hour weekly, with benefits including:

Position Summary

The Housekeeping/Janitor position is responsible for taking care of the TCGC building’s general cleanliness to provide tidy and sanitary amenities to members and their guests. Their duties include cleaning, sanitizing, maintenance, and trash.

Position Responsibilities, Tasks and Duties

  • Cleaning: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, shampoo carpets, dusting, and cleaning windows and mirrors
  • Sanitizing: Cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, break rooms, and surfaces
  • Trash: Taking out trash and recycling, replacing liners
  • Supplies: Restocking restroom supplies (toilet paper, paper towels, toilet liners, soap in dispensers)
  • Maintenance: minor repairs as needed (example: replacing light bulbs); report maintenance issues as they come to your attention
  • Organization: Keeping Janitorial closet stocked, organized, and clean.
  • Secure building before leaving; make sure all doors, windows, entrances/exits are securely closed and locked
  • Work with the groundskeeping team to alert them of maintenance issues directly around the perimeter of the Clubhouse

Candidate Requirements and Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate with co-workers and management staff in clear, business-like and respectful manner which focuses on creating a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative work environment
  • Must be motivated, responsible and independent
  • Extreme attention to the smallest detail
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • A sense of pride in your work and love for cleanliness/organization
  • Ability to work overnight a must
  • Must be able to lift 25+ lbs, and perform physical activities
  • Able to provide excellent communication skills. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace
